Listen to ‘WASTE’ by Madams Last Discovery // Review

Madams Last Discovery have had one busy year so far. In a year that’s consisted of touring Ireland, including a support slot for Dea Matrona at their sold-out hometown show, the four-piece have also been releasing singles like there’s no tomorrow. On their newest single ‘WASTE’, the band experiment with a slow-slung groove that details a THREE WEEK bar crawl, which sounds horrendous. I would not survive.

Pairing together the urgency of Fontaines D.C. with the haze of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Madams bring a sound that’s in your face but armed with grooves. ‘WASTE’ does ease on the tempo compared to its predecessor ‘Champagne‘, but has all the grit to remain unapologetically loud. The guitars collide against the monolithic bass tones to deliver a massive sound, which is somehow directed by the drawling vocals that seem to be in the midst of the aforementioned bar crawl. Its a little incoherent, but has the passion to make even me wish to be there with them.

Its a commanding listen that sounds bigger with every listen, and fills me with excitement to hear more. I too will aboard the Madams hype train, and hoping they continue with this productive streak.
