It’s crazy to think three years have passed since Wet Leg released their debut album, but the Isle of Wight band have made their triumphant return with ‘catch these fists’. As we live through an increasingly tumultuous world, this tension has permeated onto the new single – No longer are we invited onto the chaise longue; we’re tussling now.
The single wastes little time making itself known, as a strong lean towards a dance-punk style sees its gutsy main riff revel in its clunk. Throwing itself at all corners of the room with its weight. Hester’s melodies noodle their way through the verses. Creating a wonky hook that still remains in our mind since its release. As Rhian calls out and challenges various ladykillers and their sad attempts to charm, the song moves into its massive chorus, that levels up into a serious earworm.
Launched with the announcement of new album Moisturizer – out 11th July – ‘catch these fists’ reacquaints us with the same level of absurd that made Wet Leg stand out initially, and welcomes us back to their world of “eh, whatever” that makes it an absolute riot. The momentum train has firmly began, and we cannot wait to hear what’s to come.
‘catch these fists’ has been added to our Dead Good Playlist, which you can listen to here.
