Based in London, Arliston are a fast-rising indie duo that seem to be going from strength to strength with each new release they put out. A couple of months ago, they made a huge impression with their gorgeous track ‘Mothering’, and they are now back with an even stronger offering in the form of brand-new single ‘Hold My Wine‘ (think of the title as a humorous middle-class version of the popular saying ‘hold my beer’).
Needless to say, ‘Hold My Wine’ commands attention from the very first listen, much like most of their songs. The vocals are dreamy and hypnotic, while the production has plenty of bite with formidable drums and lush synths. The track provides another pivotal moment in the duo’s journey as they continue to make huge strides, and it also whets the appetite for their forthcoming project, ‘Even in the Shade’, which will arrive on November 4th.
Speaking about ‘Hold my Wine’, Arliston’s Jack Ratcliffe says, “We’ve been wanting to make something a bit more playful for a while, so when we first hit on that chorus idea, making a silly middle-class pun on ‘hold my beer’, everything else just fell into place around it. This one was a lot of fun to make.
“‘Hold My Wine’ is about that occasional moment of recognition when you look up from the narrow corridor of your own thoughts and are seized by the idea that everyone else has progressed and developed while you are stuck in an unchanged rut. The protagonist attempts to do something about it in the chorus – but inevitably, he gets it wrong.”
‘Hold My Wine’ is out now on all platforms.
