Good news, Bryony Williams has returned this week with another beautiful new single. The midlands artist has been releasing music since 2015 but has taken a hiatus since re-releasing her debut EP Growing//Fading in 2021.
Fortunately, 2024 has seen the singer/songwriter return to the indie scene stronger than ever with singles taken from her upcoming two-part debut album which is set for release later this year. ‘The Party’ follows February’s ‘Trip Me Up’ and last month’s ‘Inbetween Days’ in true Bryony Williams style, capturing her vulnerability in a warm summery listening experience.
Sonically the track is a joy to listen to, Bryony’s gentle spacey vocals offer a nice reverb whilst the ethereal production and airy pace work in tandem to create two-and-a-half minutes of americana-tinged bliss.
Lyrically, ‘The Party’ vents Bryony’s frustrations at the monotonous and predictable nature of life, of just going through the motions and playing out the same tropes as every generation before us has.
Bryony said: “I get almost paralysed by this concept. The song documents my internal push and pull of living conventionally and/or living my truth, which isn’t to get a mortgage, isn’t to start a family, isn’t to work until retirement/death, but to instead “escape the day-to-day and start living. I then get so far imagining this escapism; this way of life (travel, freedom, backpacking, living out of a van), but I am quickly pulled back into reality of having to reside in one place and work, and grow older.”
It’s clear this artist isn’t going anywhere as she continues to carve out a name for herself in the UK indie scene. Don’t forget to stream ‘The Party’.
