Casual Threats – ‘D.L.R.’ / New Single

Casual Threats are back with new single ‘D.L.R.’. This is their first release since 2018, having become motivated to return by the tidal wave of Post Punk that has flooded the industry recently. Despite all of the noise coming out of genre, the Newcastle trio’s slice of loud makes them stand out from the crowd.

To be expected, ‘D.L.R.’ features all of the qualities of a good Post Punk song. The intro brings the beefy guitar riffs to the forefront, tearing through the speakers and hitting the ears with dirty, distorted noise. The grittiness bleeds through to the vocals, sounding passionate in their delivery as they project emotions stemmed from loneliness and isolation. Seeming desperate to avoid certain vices and bad habits, it ramps up the tension behind the track.

‘D.L.R.’ is one hell of a listen, and a great way to reintroduce yourself to the world. Casual Threats do a great job of delivering a song that maintains a high energy throughout. The way the bassline and drums collide continuously really brings an atmosphere to the mix that you’d wish to hear live. It’s a great song, and hopefully the start of many to come from Casual Threats.
