Indica Palm Radio – ‘Be Brave! Face Life!’ / Album Review

Be Brave! Face Life! is the latest album from Indica Palm Radio and was released on the 18th of June. The 7 track album is filled with jazzy guitars, well-written lyrics, instrumental breaks, and catchy melodies.

When asked what inspired this album Indica Palm Radio said:

‘I tend to write music as a form of therapy. Whenever I feel exceptionally strong emotions one way or the other, I tend to pick up my guitar. As a consequence, every few years I end up with a collection of songs, and I pick and choose my favorites to finish off. The songs on

‘Be Brave!, Face Life!’, which were written over the past two years, are about keeping up with a world that is constantly changing, and about two people drifting apart.’

The first track on Be Brave! Face Life! is ‘Early Morning’ which starts the album off on a calm and soothing tone. You can really hear the jazz influences in this first track and that theme sticks through the rest of the album.

‘We’re Going Nowhere’ has a strong atmospheric sound, with slight melancholy vibes.

‘February’ has a calming backing of guitar, brass, and synths that is unsettlingly beautiful, a musical representation of self-perception.

Indica Palm Radio definitely has a unique sense of self and that comes through in this album. The name of this album was inspired by The Charlie Chaplin Film “City Lights”

“There’s a moment where Chaplin saves a man from the brink of suicide, and when the man bursts into tears, Chaplin raises his finger and yells “Be Brave! Face Life!”. I think about that scene quite often, and it reminds me that everything seems scarier than it is, and a little bit of bravery goes a long way.”

So go show Indica Palm Radio some love and remember Be Brave! Face Life!
