People powered storyteller and Scouse legend Jamie Webster is back with his first new single since he unleashed his debut album ‘We Get By’ almost one year ago.
Jamie Webster has been wowing us for a while, both with his music and they way he brings light to important social issues; it’s no wonder that he made history as the first UK Folk Chart Number One artist and that his debut made the UK Album Chart Top Ten.
His debut release set the bar high but Webster has delivered yet again with ‘Days Unknown’, a festival-ready folky offering that features strummed guitar, rattling percussion and some la-la-las that could give Morrisey a run for his money!
Lyrically the track is written about staying strong through the challenging times the pandemic has brought us and enjoying the return to relative normality as we see clubs and live venues open again. The track is also about holding the government accountable for its actions throughout the pandemic and beforehand, Jamie has been pretty vocal about how unfairly the music industry (and the arts sector as a whole) has been treated and his thought-provoking lyrics are bringing the injustice to light.
Webster commented: “Once the nightmare is behind us it’ll be a case of pure relief and euphoria, but perhaps we shouldn’t completely let the idea of freedom overshadow the things that needed to change before this all hit. ‘Days Unknown’ is about that desperation to have your life back, but also how poorly the powers that be have handled this situation and that they will likely remain in charge once it’s done. Everything has changed, but in some respects, nothing has changed and it’s still time for more than just a change of lifestyle. It’s time for a change of life.”
