Jess Fitz returns with her storming new single ‘Heartbreaker Energy’. Having introduced a new sound on ‘Back in Town’ earlier this year, it seems Jess has fully embraced the Pop star vibe for this new tune and I’m all here for it.
Written about harnessing the mindset of simply enjoying yourself and absolutely STEEPED in funk, this song is a force to be reckoned with. A bold, funky bassline struts from ear to ear while Jess’s traditionally big voice slips between the layers to deliver hooks that’ll have you singing along in no time. It is an immediate hit from the get-go, and each element is designed to make you fully aware of that. The subtle additions of guitar riffage and synths help to fill the room with this beefy energy, and I’m absolutely hooked.
What a tune. ‘Heartbreaker Energy’ is great and a blast to listen to. It shows off Jess’s progression from writing about heartbreak and failed relationships to moving on from that in this newfound, defiant energy. I’m excited to hear what’s next.
