Kai Bosch – ‘Tulips’ / New Single

‘Tulips’ is the new single by Kai Bosch, that dropped on the 11th of January. Kai Bosch has recently supported Katie Gregson-MacLeod and Gretyl Hanlyn as well as releasing numerous singles, including ‘Bodybag’ which was released in October last year.

Kai explains, “Tulips is about the realisation that you have nothing left to give to a relationship, its a bittersweet feeling of optimism and hope for the future while also feeling a pang of regret that things arent the way they once were. I wrote it towards the end of a stint living with my ex-boyfriend and realising that giving my love to him wasnt worth my time anymore as I wasnt getting anything in return. The song was inspired by the idea of flower pressings and how you can preserve the colour and beauty of something that is still dead nonetheless – and how I wish I could do that to the relationship I had with my ex.”

‘Tulips’ opens with an interesting and unique sound, with an almost movie like surrealism. This track continues with its beat holding out like a heartbeat, connecting all the wonderful layers put into this song. Bosch has a beautiful voice and with the varying tone and lyrical vocals this song is full of signature pop sounds with a unique spin. ‘Tulips’ is full of genuinely fun electronic sounds and mixed in layers with a beat and sound that makes you feel an odd connection with nature, perhaps it’s the title or the weirdly (in a good way) underwater feel at times, who knows? To go with this feeling, Bosch knows how to create a lyrics that will stick, ‘I don’t want your love no I just want your care’, give it a listen, you’ll see what I mean. And if you want to see him live, Kai Bosch will be performing four headline shows in late April/early May.
