néomí – ‘somebody’s daughter’ / New Single

If you missed ‘garden’ back in November, (and our review of the emotive track) you’re in luck as the Surinamese/Dutch artist, néomí, is back with another charming single. While ‘garden’ found a home in the acoustic, folk genre, ‘somebody’s daughter’ takes her music to a more pop-indie zone. Her usual blend of guitars are interloped with more obscure, electronic elements, like the computerised vocals on the bridge. It’s production and melodies are reminiscent of artists such as The Japanese House and Holly Humberstone, whilst being entirely fresh. And néomí can rest assured no one will be forgetting that she’s ‘still somebody’s daughter’ any time soon, as the song hasn’t exited my mind since the first listen.

This release has certainly started the new year on a high, and for néomí, this is only slated to continue as she’s booked for both the ESNS (Eurosonic Festival) 2024 taking place in January and the prestigious SXSW Festival in March. We just hope that this song makes the cut for live shows. Listen for yourself over on Spotify, Apple Music or Amazon Music.
