Lohrd Snohw and Kate Brunotts are back to their collaborative ways with ‘SAID ILY’. This time they’ve added a new member to their crew – fellow NYC artist River Hooks. While they could’ve easily continued the momentum made from “Call Me Deadly” earlier this year, they’ve only gone a formed a badass trio instead.
Coming into this as a fan of Lohrd Snohw’s work, the new single is another song involving her work that totally warps your mind and transports you into this other-worldly place. The instrumental is more of an atmosphere built up of lush, mechanical life. Percussion and synths are heard in the distance while the vocal hook seems to flow from ear to ear. It has an off-kilter groove to it that harnesses the space that’s left within, which is soon filled by the vocals from each artist. Each of their contributions come with a different style that fit the music perfectly, causing no disruption and even creating some direct hooks which is not often heard in Lohrd Snohw material.
‘SAID ILY’ is a brilliant song that allows everyone involved to play a part without sounding too overcrowded. I mean, there’s no fear of overcrowding when you’re creating atmospheres as massive as this, but everybody is able to stand out while maintaining the design of the song. It’s great, and I hope to hear more collaborations from these three soon.
