Lorde – ‘Solar Power’ / New Single

Lorde releases her first new music since Melodrama in 2017.

Lorde is back with a brand new highly anticipated single titled ‘Solar Power’, the track is taken from her upcoming album of the same name and marks her first new release in four years.

The sun worshiping tracks release coincided with the solar eclipse on June 10th and delivers feelgood summery vibes marking a new era of Lorde’s music, she has moved on from the heartbreak of ‘Melodrama’ and she has risen, fresh from her hiatus and charged by nature with a new state of mind that is infectiously positive.

The track is an upbeat breath of fresh air, it begins as a stripped back acoustic track with simple percussion before the drums kick in and the backing vocals from Clairo and Phoebe Bridges provide some beautiful harmonies that build into a euphoric finale. Think Primal Scream meets George Michael charged with lots of vitamin D.

Lorde’s lyrics are playful as she sings about leading the girls and boys onto the beaches, “I’m kind of like a prettier Jesus” she jokes. Lorde has spent her time off reconnecting with nature and has had almost no online presence, she teases “I throw my cellular device in the water / Can you reach me? No, you can’t”.

Accompanying the track is a Mamma Mia-esque (and slightly cultish) music video which you can watch here. We cannot wait to see what the album has in store but if ‘Solar Power’ is anything to go by it will make our serotonin levels soar!
