Squidge are back with two new songs to ring out the year with a final dose of LOUD. Double single ‘Gobby/John’ is a quick blitz of energy that would make Santa deliver his gifts at an alarming rate – proper good productivity is achieved by listening to this. I’ve just written this piece while at work whilst spinning twenty plates and doing a handstand. Incredible really.
‘Gobby’ kicks things off with a riff-heavy sound that immediately bursts the eardrums and floods the airwaves with noise. Light on lyrics but complete with a hook, the song quickly finds itself rooted into your brain. It is heavy on everything, making it a real joy to scream along to. I genuinely feel like I could dropkick the tallest mountain right now.
‘John’ follows with a tale of an unfortunate man. With each stream of the single, all listeners are forced to play a game of Everyone Is John, where each player compete as different personalities of John, fighting for control. Death is on the cards, but fortunately I got to play the personality of John the expert Sniper. Sniping away at the others under cover of darkness and sheer beefy riffage as the song piles out of the speakers.
Both songs are great and a real combo to the face that gets me feeling AMPED UP. Squidge have had a terrific year and these singles cap it off with a real aggressive bow on top. Looking forward to hearing what they deliver in the new year. Now, who’s up for a quick spot of Everyone Is John?
