Lazy Day – ‘Bright Yellow’ / New Single

Hot off the press of their signing to Brace Yourself Records comes ‘Bright Yellow’, the new single from Lazy Day. The project of London’s Tilly Scantlebury is set for a not-so-on-brand unlazy day, with live dates scheduled with Honeyblood next month, as well as a potential hope for more music on the way too. I usually think putting new socks on on a lazy day is a success, Tilly has properly eclipsed me here.

Taking all forms of influences from the likes of St. Vincent, Mitski, Robyn and everybody in between, ‘Bright Yellow’ is a shining spark of a tune that offers the brightest yellow we’ve ever seen. Loaded with synths, guitars and every hook imaginable, it is bursting at the seams with reasons to make you dance. Beginning with soft piano keys and Tilly’s subdued vocals, the track wastes no time in letting loose with its tools. Launching into a disco-flavoured, guitar-ladened instrumental that is exciting from the get-go.

What a thrill of a listen, and a great way to reintroduce yourself to the world after some time away. Lazy Day has essentially released an audio version of Flint Lockwood’s Celebrationator. Packed with all the colours and happiness you could ever need.
