TVOD – ‘Goldfish’ / New Single

Today, TVOD (Television Overdose) share their new single ‘Goldfish’. With two singles released this year, the Brooklyn-based outfit look set to complete a trilogy that’s sure to be up there with the likes of Lord of the Rings. Complete with a range of emotions, ‘Goldfish’ has everything you could ever need – including an animated video that’s pretty badass.

Speaking on their upcoming single, lead vocalist and songwriter Tyler Wright wrote: “Our guitar player Jason and I were messing around before band practice one day and started hammering out these very primal bass & drum beats. I couldn’t help but use my goldfish ‘Phoebe’ who had passed the day before as the writing inspiration for this song. I felt guilty about her biting the big one under my watch so I decided to write a song in which my friend Ted is actually is the one that murders her. RIP Phoebe. I blame Ted.”

Kicking into gear with a filthy bass line, ‘Goldfish’ sets the tone for some misplaced blame. “Ted killed my Goldfish” pairs up with some scathing guitar chords to really allow the accusation to sink deep into the mind, before erupting with a raucous set of riffs. The rhythm section chugs behind to keep things uneasy, while the vocals slip into more unstable territory as things progress. You can really feel the tension and emotion in the room. It makes for great listening.

‘Goldfish’ is a thrill from the get-go, and while I shall mourn Phoebe, she’s immortalised forever in this fantastic song. TVOD have delivered hugely with their latest tune, capping off what has been a superb set of singles. I’m hoping there’s not much time until we hear from them again. RIP Phoebe.
