VENUS GRRRLS return with ‘Aries’. It looks to continue the ringing left in our ears by its predecessor ‘Violet State of Mind’, while also building on the high praise it received too. As bold guitars come paired with a determination to crumble misconceptions and highlight women in music, it is certainly a song that grabs your attention.
With an infectious vocal hook and palm muted guitars, ‘Aries’ immediately sinks its teeth into the mind. The steady tempo of the drums build anticipation as it begins to increase in tension, culminating in an eruption of riffs and melodies that tear through the airwaves. The vocals from GK are massive, sounding especially powerful during the chorus, and seem unfazed by the mammoth instrumentation, taking charge of proceedings from the get-go. It is a thrilling listen.
‘Aries’ is a superb song. VENUS GRRRLS set out to create something that hits hard, and they achieve that in abundance here. With two songs released and only a couple months left to go, here’s hoping we hear more from them before the year closes.
