It’s end of year list time! Where every publication aims to condense everything they’ve written about over the last twelve months into one ap-peel-ing list for you to enjoy. Kinda like a greatest hits album.

Now that pretty much everywhere has posted theirs, it’s finally time for us to join in on the “fun”! Kicking off with Our Best EPs Of 2023. The humble EP continues to be the most underrated form of media in music. It provides a great gateway for fans to enjoy just a little bit of a new sound or idea an artist is playing with. We will look to feature more of them in the new year, but here’s a list of 15 ones in particular that really tickled our fancy.

Adding tempo and variation to the vocals brings another edge to Mikey’s discography that already boasts some incredible material, so it’s good to see it extends into his solo ventures too.”

It serves as a solid introduction to Kindelan, and highlights her ability to deliver captivating, intriguing instrumentals while breaking down the complexities of human emotion and other loaded topics in a way that makes it deeply relatable. It establishes Kindelan as an artist to keep an eye, certainly leaving us exciting for what comes next.”

Maruja - Knocknarea - No. 1

1. MARUJA – KNOCKNAREA

Knocknarea is a fantastic EP, and one that shows how diverse and composed Maruja are with their songwriting. Considering this is a debut piece, it highlights a strong knowledge of its primary genre, while also having the confidence to introduce parts of other genres into the mix too. The result is a kaleidoscopic sound that feels brand new every time, and one that can be enjoyed over and over again.”

Maruja truly knocked it out of the park this year. The trio delivered something that could not be heard elsewhere. Immediately placing it to the top of the list as a real standout. There were a lot of fantastic EPs released, but not many that could contend with Knocknarea. What a way to make an entrance.
